Lenovo’s IdeaCenter A720 multi-touch all-in-one PC now available for $1849

via cdn2.sbnation.com

Lenovo has made the IdeaCenter A720 all-in-one that we saw at CES this year available for sale. The articulating, 10-point, 27-inch multi-touch display is certainly the A720′s most prominent feature, and in its base configuration the A720 comes with a Core I7-3610QM Ivy Bridge processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, as well as a 1TB hard drive. The only upgrades on Lenovo’s web store are a $ 100 TV tuner option or a 64GB SSD TV tuner combo for $ 250 more.

The $ 1,849 base price of the A720 is considerably higher than the $ 1,299 price point that Lenovo gave us at CES, but with a movable multi-touch display and an Ivy Bridge processor the additional expense seems justified. Nook Simple Touch multitouch hack turns e-reader into a monochrome $99 Android tablet

Nook Simple Touch multitouch hack turns e-reader into a monochrome $99 Android tablet

While few would argue that a monochrome E Ink display is suited to run a full version of Android, that hasn’t stopped users from rooting their Nook Simple Touch e-readers to give them access to Google Play apps. Combined with the Nook’s already-improved screen refresh rate and a “No Refresh” app that removes the black flashes used to clear the E Ink screen, the mod turns the e-reader into a somewhat ridiculous, possibly useful $ 99 monochrome Android tablet. Gestures appear to be working well in Angry Birds and a PDF reader in the videos below, but a few early testers…

NUIverse app for Microsoft Surface 2.0 is a multitouch, universe simulating wonder

Microsoft Surface 2.0 NUIverse Earth

If you’ve ever played around with Google Earth you know how difficult it can be to explore just our planet — forget about the entire universe. Microsoft Surface 2.0 app NUIverse makes it all look incredibly easy however, with Natural User Interface (NUI, get it?) support for zooming, panning, and more with all your fingers. Microsoft Technology Center developer David Brown shows off the app running on the new Samsung SUR40 running Surface 2.0 in the video below, and while it is lengthy, it’s also one of the most impressive tech demos we’ve seen.

According to Brown, the software can render up to 100,000 stars in real time, but that doesn’t even begin to explain it. The whole experience (at least as it’s shown off in the video) is super…
