Lenovo announces 2012 ThinkPad lineup, including Ivy Bridge and revamped keyboards

Lenovo has refreshed their entire ThinkPad lineup for 2012, bringing Intel’s 3rd-generation Core processors to bear on their business-centric hardware. Lenovo’s entire refreshed lineup packs Intel’s Ivy Bridge CPUs, USB 3.0, and the company’s new Thinkpad Precision Keyboard.

We had a chance to get some hands-on time with these machines recently, and the revamped keyboard doesn’t disappoint. It offers the comfortable, accurate typing experience we’ve come to expect from Lenovo’s wares, coupled with optional backlighting. Lenovo is also including the latest version of their Enhanced Experience platform — version 3.0 adds the latest iteration of Lenovo’s RapidBoot and BootShield technologies, which promises to keep boot times under 30…

Lenovo K91 Android 4.0 smart TV launches in China for $2,378

Lenovo K91 Android 4.0 smart TV launches in China for $2,378

Gallery Photo: Lenovo SmartTV K91 pictures

Lenovo’s K-series smart TV range has officially launched in China. We got details last month of the 6,499 yuan ($ 1,030) 42-inch K71′s release, but the range goes all the way up to the 55-inch K91 which retails for 14,999 yuan ($ 2,378). We were pretty impressed by the K91 when we checked it out at CES earlier this year — the combination of Snapdragon S4 processor and Android 4.0 gives the interface and games speedy performance, and features like face and voice recognition worked well enough. There’s no word on an international release for these TVs, but Lenovo said it wanted to launch in China first to secure content deals.

Lenovo unveils tiny, 1.35-inch thick ThinkCentre desktops for businesses

Lenovo unveils tiny, 1.35-inch thick ThinkCentre desktops for businesses

Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p

Lenovo has updated its business-friendly ThinkCentre line of desktops and all-in-ones today with modest spec bumps, but there are two newcomers: the M92p and M72e tiny desktops. The two computers share a diminutive chassis that is nearly 7 inches tall by 7 inches wide, and, at 1.35 inches thick, it is a bit thinner than the diameter of a golf ball — sure to be something businesspeople can relate to. The whole machine is a bit smaller than a Mac Mini, and in that limited real estate Lenovo has managed to fit five USB ports (three of which are of the speedier 3.0 variety on the higher-end M92p). Just like Apple’s offering, there’s no optical drive here, but the system is going to be available with Intel’s new Ivy Bridge processors — up…

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 now available for $549

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 now available for $549

via cdn0.sbnation.com

Lenovo’s ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 laptops are now on sale in the US. The pair of notebooks were announced back at CES in January, and offer a choice of either a 14-inch or 15.6-inch screen. Besides the difference in size, the specs are largely the same for both machines: each has an Intel Core i3-2350M processor clocked at 2.3GHz, 4GB RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and Intel HD3000 graphics. Despite their size differences, the displays offer the same HD resolution of 1366 x 768, and both come in either Midnight Black or Brushed Aluminum, with no mention of the Heatwave Red (pictured above) or Cobalt Blue finishes. Both models also offer the now-standard 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and a DVD burner.

If you’re looking for a new Lenovo, and aren’t put…

Lenovo recalls 28,000 more ThinkCentre M90z and M70z all-in-one PCs

Lenovo recalls 28,000 more ThinkCentre M90z and M70z all-in-one PCs

Lenovo ThinkCentre M90z stock press 1024

If you or someone you know purchased a Lenovo ThinkCentre M90z or M70z all-in-one computer — it doesn’t matter when — you might want to see if you can send it back to Lenovo to avoid a potential fire hazard. Last month, the computer manufacturer voluntarily recalled 160,000 of the computers sold between May 2010 and January 2012 after two customers complained that their internal power supplies caught fire during use, and now the company’s expanded the recall to 28,000 additional computers sold up through March 2012. In other words, every computer shipped since the systems were first introduced is potentially part of the recall, and it would behoove you to check. All you need to do is find the computer’s serial number, and enter it at…

Lenovo ThinkCentre M92z leaked: an all-in-one desktop that looks like a PC monitor

Lenovo ThinkCentre M92z leaked: an all-in-one desktop that looks like a PC monitor

Lenovo M92z leak

Most all-in-one desktop computers are bulky, thick contraptions that balance on their front edge, with a secondary support sticking out of the back, or perhaps a giant foot up front. Lenovo’s ThinkCentre M92z all-in-one desktop PC is the latest attempt to minimize a desktop computer’s impact on your surroundings. Like Vizio’s all-in-one PC, the M92z looks more like a simple monitor than an entire machine, and yet our source tells us the 20-inch and 23-inch computers will not only have Intel Ivy Bridge processors when they arrives in July, but also discrete graphics and Windows 8-ready touchscreens. We received the above image from the same source that dished on the company’s “Battery Safeguard” and Windows 8 tablet timing, and so we…

Lenovo laptops will reject third-party batteries, starting with ThinkPad Edge in May?

Lenovo laptops will reject third-party batteries, starting with ThinkPad Edge in May?

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge stock 640

As we reported at CES, Lenovo is planning a refresh of its ThinkPad Edge mainstream laptop line, bringing Intel’s new Ivy Bridge processors and some USB 3.0 ports in a slightly lighter design. Now, a source tells us that the new ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 will be the first of the company’s laptops to bring a feature you probably don’t want: “Battery Safeguard.” Though the name makes it sound like additional protection for your battery, our source says it’s actually all about protecting Lenovo’s bottom line, as it’s designed to make sure only official Lenovo batteries work in Lenovo laptops from now on. Allegedly, the laptop will scan for a special new chip that only Lenovo’s laptops will have installed, and will refuse to work without…

9.7-inch Lenovo IdeaTab revealed in FCC filing, rumored to launch this month

9.7-inch Lenovo IdeaTab revealed in FCC filing, rumored to launch this month

IdeaTab S2109A FCC

An FCC filing has revealed yet another addition to Lenovo’s growing catalog of tablet devices: the IdeaTab S2109A (not to be confused with the IdeaTab S2). While details are scarce, Engadget cites an unnamed source as saying that the tablet will feature a 9.7-inch IPS display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, four built-in speakers, and a Texas Instruments OMAP chip. It will reportedly also run Ice Cream Sandwich and launch by the end of March. The FCC filing doesn’t reveal much else, but it does confirm that the tablet will include a wireless TI WL1281 chip — so even though the S2109A appears to be a Wi-Fi-only device, there is a chance it could include GPS functionality. And according to the FCC test report, the device used during testing was…
