The firmware for Samsung’s Galaxy S III has leaked just over a week ahead of the device’s release. While you can’t flash the ROM to another phone just yet, developers are able to poke around inside and could be bringing elements of the TouchWiz Nature UX experience to a wider audience at some point. The first major finding to come out of the leak, however, is an APK for S Voice, Samsung’s Siri-style voice control application. It seems to work on any device running Android 4.0 — we tested the app on a Galaxy Nexus and a Sharp Aquos Phone, and got it up and running largely without issue barring a couple of crashes.
It’s clear that S Voice has been modeled very much in Siri’s image
Obviously, we don’t want to pass anything resembling a…

Samsung said earlier this year that is hoped to sell 10 million units of its smartphone-tablet hybrid, the Galaxy Note, in 2012. End-user sales reached 5 million units in March, putting Samsung well on its way to achieving the lofty goal. If 10 million is a magic number for Samsung, the company is undoubtedly pleased with pre-sales performance of its next-generation flagship smartphone, which may reach 10 million units before the smartphone even hits store shelves. South Korea-based newspaper Korea Economic Daily on Friday cited an unnamed Samsung official in reporting that carrier preorders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III have already hit 9 million units. Reuters, which relayed the report, notes that Samsung’s South Korean factory is currently building the Galaxy S III at full capacity of 5 million units per month, according to the paper. Samsung’s Galaxy S III will launch in Germany on May 29th before rolling out in other markets around the world. The flagship smartphone is expected to begin launching on carriers in the United States this summer.

You might have heard that Samsung has a new phone coming out soon, but even if you’re not planning to buy the Galaxy S III it seems like the phone’s success is all but assured. An unnamed Samsung official, speaking to the Korea Economic Daily, said that the new flagship handset has had over 9 million units preordered worldwide. This total includes devices sold by more than 290 carriers in 145 countries.
Like the Galaxy S II, the III will be sold in a huge number of localized models, and we’ve already seen variation in the processors and amount of RAM used. The early pre-order success, however, suggests that a lot of people are excited for the phone whatever form it takes. It goes on sale in Europe on May 29th, with a North American…

Samsung on Monday released a European television commercial for its upcoming flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. Rather than a mouth full of specs, the 60-second ad highlights the handset’s connection to humans and nature. The Galaxy S III “understands you, shares what’s in your heart, keeps track of loved ones, recognises who you are, follows your every move, sees your best side, connects with nature and waits till you’re asleep,” the commercial states. The smartphone is scheduled to launch at the end of May overseas and some time in June in North America. Samsung’s Galaxy S III commercial follows below.

An unknown Samsung handset running on Verizon’s network made an appearance on NenaMark’s benchmarking app over the weekend. The smartphone features the model number SCH-I535, which has previously been rumored to be Verizon’s variant of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S III. The benchmark confirms that a powerful Samsung device with a 720p HD display and Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich is heading to Verizon. The results also show that rather than Samsung’s own quad-core Exynos processor, the SCH-I535 is equipped with Qualcomm’s dual-core and LTE-friendly Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The Samsung Galaxy S III will launch on numerous carriers throughout North America beginning in June.
