Droid Incredible 4G LTE extended battery and door on sale before the phone

Droid Incredible 4G LTE extended battery and door on sale before the phone

Accessory site HTCPedia is selling an extended battery and the accompanying rear door for the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE before the handset has even been officially announced. The battery itself offers 2,100mAh, or a little over 25 percent more power than the stock 1,700mAh battery that will ship with the Incredible 4G. However, that extra power comes at the expense of the handset’s skinny profile — the battery bulge appears to protrude by around half an inch from the rear of the rest of the device. The replacement battery cover does keep the same basic design though, with the slightly angular textured back, engraved HTC logo, incorporated antenna, and entirely necessary Beats Audio logo all present. The battery will set you back…

DROID Incredible 4G LTE appears on Verizon site

DROID Incredible 4G LTE appears on Verizon site

The HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE has been outed on Verizon’s “Droid Does” website. The new Incredible is equipped with a 4-inch qHD Super LCD display, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD slot and an 8-megapixel rear camera — possibly the same one found on HTC’s One-series smartphones. The handset also runs HTC’s latest Sense 4.0 skin atop Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. In line with Verizon’s other 4G LTE smartphones, the latest Incredible will seemingly be offered for $ 299.99 alongside a new two-year agreement. The DROID Incredible 4G LTE has since been removed from Verizon’s site and there is no word from Verizon regarding a release date.

Verizon updating Droid 4 with backlighting, screen lockout fixes

Verizon updating Droid 4 with backlighting, screen lockout fixes

Droid 4 main 1020 stock 2

In addition to the changes rolling out to the RAZR and RAZR Maxx, Verizon will be issuing an update to the Droid 4 that offers performance and stability enhancements, including improvements to battery life and Wi-Fi connectivity. In our Verge Battery Test, the Droid 4 delivered only 3 hours and 56 minutes of battery life, though whether or not the new firmware makes substantial gains is unknown. The update documentation also mentions fixes to keyboard backlighting and screen lockout issues. An official release date has not been confirmed, but Verizon says that the update is “coming soon.” If that’s not soon enough, Talk Android claims to have the signed version of the 6.13.219 update available for download now.

Droid RAZR HD name surfaces in Motorola engineer’s photo EXIF data

Droid RAZR HD EXIF data screen image

Recent rumors have indicated that Google may be planning to sell off Motorola Mobility to Huawei, but that doesn’t mean the phone manufacturer isn’t hard at work on new products. The name of one possible upcoming device — the Droid RAZR HD — has now appeared in the EXIF data from a series of images uploaded by a purported Motorola employee. The photos in question, stored on Picasa, are listed as being uploaded by Vic Yu, who according to both his Google+ profile and LinkedIn page is an engineer and program manager at Motorola Mobility. Along with the product name, the EXIF data lists a camera with a f/2.4 aperture and a focal length of 5mm. Also of note is the software version, which lists an Ice Cream Sandwich build of 4.0.3 while…

Best Buy leak shows ICS delay for Droid RAZR, RAZR Maxx; April 6th update for HTC Rezound

Best Buy leak shows ICS delay for Droid RAZR, RAZR Maxx; April 6th update for HTC Rezound

Gallery Photo: Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx review pictures

Last week an alleged Best Buy leak indicated that Ice Cream Sandwich would be coming to three Verizon phones this week: the Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx on April 4th, and the HTC Rezound on April 6th. Obviously, the first date has come and gone with no update for either Droid device, and Android Police has a new purported leak from the retailer that indicates the update has indeed been delayed. April 6th is still listed as the planned release date for the Rezound over-the-air update, but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to know for sure. Unfortunately for owners of the RAZR devices, no updated release date is provided.

Best Buy leak shows Droid RAZR, RAZR Maxx and HTC Rezound getting Android 4.0 next week

htc rezound

Is Ice Cream Sandwich out yet? Well, it might be available for your Verizon Droid RAZR, RAZR Maxx or Rezound next week, according to a leaked document obtained by Android Police. You can see a picture of a Best Buy Mobile terminal in the picture below, and those dates are as clear as can be: April 4th is when the mobile phone retailer believes the Motorola RAZR and RAZR Maxx will get an over-the-air Android 4.0 update, and the HTC Rezound is allegedly scheduled for that update on April 6th. If true, that’s great news for Rezound owners, who weren’t sure when they might get their tasty frozen treat after last month’s delay, but probably no comfort to Droid Bionic users, who were promised an update five months ago and still have no idea…

Leaked image may reveal Motorola’s upcoming DROID Fighter

Leaked image may reveal Motorola’s upcoming DROID Fighter

The first image of what is believed to be the unannounced DROID Fighter has surfaced on Chinese forum PhoneHK. The handset is said to be equipped with the same massive 3,300 mAh battery that is found in the RAZR MAXX and a 4.6-inch high-definition display. The image of the phone also shows that the Android navigation buttons common to earlier RAZR models is absent, leading us to believe that the Fighter will use the on-screen buttons found in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Details surrounding the smartphone are limited and it isn’t clear if this will be a completely new device or another RAZR variant — though the latter seems more likely. The Fighter is rumored to land on Verizon’s 4G LTE network on April 12th.

Droid 2 Global update adds Google Security Patch, fixes minor issues

Droid 2 Global update adds Google Security Patch, fixes minor issues

Infrared Droid 2

A new software update has been released for the Droid 2 Global, which fixes a few small issues with the handset, and also adds a Google Security Patch. Once updated, users should no longer have issues with the phone turning on by itself or with it reseting randomly during music playback. The 19.4MB download also reduces “out of memory” errors, improves access to Gmail while Mobile Hotspot is on, allows you to save camera settings even after shutting down, and finally lets you download and use the ringtones you’ve purchased. The over-the-air update should be available to Droid 2 Global owners “soon” and brings the software to version 4.5.62.

Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX review: Verizon’s smartest smartphone is still a tough sell

Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX review: Verizon’s smartest smartphone is still a tough sell

After years of trying to build a smartphone worthy of reinventing the world famous RAZR brand, Motorola finally launched a handset it deemed to be deserving of the moniker last November. The DROID RAZR was released on November 11th and was a marvel compared to the flip phone it modernized. At $ 500 on contract, the original RAZR touted a 176 x 220-pixel display, 5.5MB of internal storage, a VGA camera and support for data speeds up to 48Kbps. This new version of the iconic handset packed a 4.3-inch AMOLED display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera, 16GB of internal storage and blazing fast 4G LTE connectivity into a slender case only 7.1 millimeters thick. While the new RAZR was
