Lenovo’s IdeaCenter A720 multi-touch all-in-one PC now available for $1849

via cdn2.sbnation.com

Lenovo has made the IdeaCenter A720 all-in-one that we saw at CES this year available for sale. The articulating, 10-point, 27-inch multi-touch display is certainly the A720′s most prominent feature, and in its base configuration the A720 comes with a Core I7-3610QM Ivy Bridge processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, as well as a 1TB hard drive. The only upgrades on Lenovo’s web store are a $ 100 TV tuner option or a 64GB SSD TV tuner combo for $ 250 more.

The $ 1,849 base price of the A720 is considerably higher than the $ 1,299 price point that Lenovo gave us at CES, but with a movable multi-touch display and an Ivy Bridge processor the additional expense seems justified. The A720 is $ 100 more expensive than its nearest competitor, the 27 inch iMac,…

Minecraft XBLA refunds available to SDTV owners

Minecraft XBLA refunds available to SDTV owners

Image
Minecraft’s XBLA port features local split-screen multiplayer – but only when played on an HDTV, a stipulation that wasn’t … stipulated very clearly. Microsoft announced two efforts to rebuild the shattered relationship between it and SDTV-owning fans who found themselves lacking in modes. The full (but brief) statement is after the break.

First, Microsoft is now issuing refunds to affected customers who contact the publisher through customer support. Second, it is preventing other customers from being Mineshafted by adding clearer notification to the XBLA listing: “To experience split-screen functionality a high-definition television is required.”

Samsung Focus 2 available now from AT&T for $49.99

Samsung Focus 2 available now from AT&T for $49.99

Gallery Photo: Samsung Focus 2 hands-on

AT&T and Nokia went all-out for the launch of the Lumia 900 last month, but if you’re looking for another white, LTE-enabled Windows Phone with a 4-inch screen on AT&T, you’ll want to know that the Samsung Focus 2 is available now. AT&T is selling the phone for $ 49.99 with a two-year contract — a price that appears to undercut the Lumia 900, though if you look around it isn’t hard to find Nokia’s option for the same price or cheaper. If you’d rather purchase the device outright, it’ll cost you $ 399.99. We had a chance to play with the 11mm-thick Focus 2 at AT&T’s CTIA event a couple of weeks ago, so be sure to check that out if you can’t wait for our full review, which we’ll be posting soon.

Samsung’s S Voice available for Android 4.0 devices through leaked Galaxy S III ROM

Samsung’s S Voice available for Android 4.0 devices through leaked Galaxy S III ROM

s-voice on aquos phone

The firmware for Samsung’s Galaxy S III has leaked just over a week ahead of the device’s release. While you can’t flash the ROM to another phone just yet, developers are able to poke around inside and could be bringing elements of the TouchWiz Nature UX experience to a wider audience at some point. The first major finding to come out of the leak, however, is an APK for S Voice, Samsung’s Siri-style voice control application. It seems to work on any device running Android 4.0 — we tested the app on a Galaxy Nexus and a Sharp Aquos Phone, and got it up and running largely without issue barring a couple of crashes.

It’s clear that S Voice has been modeled very much in Siri’s image

Obviously, we don’t want to pass anything resembling a…

Bing API now available from Azure Marketplace, 5,000 searches per month for free

Bing API now available from Azure Marketplace, 5,000 searches per month for free

Photo

Microsoft has announced a free tier of 5,000 searches per month as part of its move to monetize the Bing search API. Microsoft told us that the new tier was “thanks to the feedback and interest from the developer community.” The pricing structure should come as a relief to many sites, which were understandably upset when Bing first announced it would charge for the API.

Since its launch, the API has been entirely free to use, whereas Google charges sites that use more than 100 searches per day. After a site uses its free quota, pricing starts at $ 14 or $ 20 per month for 10,000 data or web searches. Google charges $ 5 per 1000 queries over the 100 per day limit. The two services deal with their free quotas differently, so it’s difficult to…

HBO Go Xbox 360 app now available to Time Warner users

HBO Go Xbox 360 app now available to Time Warner users

Finally – FINALLY – Time Warner and Bright House cable customers have a way to watch HBO on their televisions. The HBO Go app for Xbox 360 previously only worked for Comcast and a variety of other services, but not TWC, so even if you were an HBO subscriber, you couldn’t use the app. Which is terrible. Today, Microsoft announced Time Warner compatibility.

Celebrate by watching some Not Necessarily the News tonight, or some episodes of Fraggle Rock. Look, it’s been a while since we’ve had HBO, okay?

Entire Quest for Glory series now available on GOG

Entire Quest for Glory series now available on GOG

If you have an affection for adventure games, you may want to sit down. Since you’re on the internet, you may be doing that already, so feel free to stand up and subsequently sit down again. Ready? Good. It’s been a long, long road, but Sierra’s classic Quest for Glory series is finally available on Good Old Games.

You can snag all five Quest for Glory games in a single package for just ten bucks. Best of all, the pack seems to be based on the CD-ROM collection, meaning you’ll get both the original and VGA enhanced versions of Quest for Glory 1, and the sweet, velvety voice of John Rhys-Davies all up in your Quest for Glory 4.

‘Hitman: Sniper Challenge’ official, only available as GameStop pre-order

‘Hitman: Sniper Challenge’ official, only available as GameStop pre-order

Confirming the leak from Tuesday, Square Enix has announced the Hitman: Sniper Challenge as a pre-order bonus for Hitman: Absolution. The challenge will be available beginning May 15 at GameStop for those who pre-order Absolution, which will take its shot at retail on November 20. A Steam version of the Sniper Challenge will be available August 1, with details on how to gain access coming later.

The Sniper Challenge is a standalone experience, with Agent 47 tasked with taking out a mark and all his bodyguards from a rooftop. Efficiency is key and will grant score multipliers and unlock equipment upgrades (some which will transfer to Absolution). Progress of the best snipers will be tracked on a leaderboard and the best of the best snipers in North America will win a trip for two to Copenhagen, Denmark, where they will meet the Hitman development team.

…or they’ll be drafted by the CIA into some La Femme Nikita situation.

Flipboard for Android leaks, download now available to all

Flipboard for Android pulled from Galaxy S III, available for all

As expected, Flipboard for Android has been pulled off of the Samsung Galaxy S III and is now available for all to download. The popular social news magazine app was going to be an exclusive on Samsung’s flagship smartphone for an unspecified amount of time, however an XDA-Developers forum member was able to extract the APK file from the unreleased device. The app runs perfectly on the Galaxy Nexus, and reportedly works on older devices like the original Galaxy S and various Android tablets as well. Flipboard for Android can be downloaded by following the link below.

PSA: MW3 Content Collection #1 now available on PC

PSA: MW3 Content Collection #1 now available on PC

Image

The first collection of content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has finally closed the circle and arrived on the PC, according to Raven Software’s official Twitter account. This is the same content (the Liberation, Piazza, Overwatch and Black Box maps, along with new Spec Ops missions Black Ice and Negotiator) that originally arrived on the Xbox 360 back in March.

Raven says there is one small consolation for PC gamers who’ve been made to wait so long. The company has added Infected and FFA Gunplay modes to the Community playlists, so you can throw down on those if you like. The collection itself is $ 14.99, available on Steam right now.
