Available in most of its high-end devices, TomTom seems to be bringing its LIVE services to at least one mid-range device. The XL 340S LIVE, available now, ships with real-time traffic information, real-time fuel prices, local weather, custom IQ Routes, and local search powered by Google. The 4.3-inch navigation device has an asking price of $299,which includes three months of LIVE services. After the three months are up, LIVE will cost you $9.95 per month.

TomTom announces XXL 530S and XXL 540S navigation devices

TomTom, a leader in PNDs, is releasing two new devices. Both devices, the XXL 530S and XXL 540S,  are part of the new XXL group. These new PNDs pack a 5-inch touchscreen display, Map Share, a Fold and Go EasyPort mount, improved user menu, and full maps of the US and Canada. The higher end model, the 540S, comes with a sleeker design that features maps of Mexico, seven million POIs, and advanced lane guidance. These two devices will be available for purchase next month in the US and Canada. Prices are $279.95 for the 530S and $299.95 for the 540S.

Sony announces two new HD Handycams

Adding two new models to its HD Handycam line, Sony has unveiled the HDR-CX500V and the HDR-CX520V. The two models ship with a backlit CMOS sensor, shoot 1080p video, snap 12-megapixels still images, and include a built-in GPS for geotagging both photos and videos. Other features include face detection, three-way image stabilization, a six-blade aperture, and the ability to record AVCHD (H.264). The two models will also play nice with Mac apps like iMovie. The only difference between the two cameras is storage, with the CX500V offering 32GB flash memory and the CX520V having 64GB flash memory. Both models will be available in September for $1,100 and $1,300.
