Odroid get Android 2.1, early March release

Manufactured by Hardkernel, Odroid is described by the company as “Developer-focused portable game device.” Hardware specs for the device include Samsung Cortex-A8 processor clocked at 833MHz, 512 MB of DDR2 RAM, 3.5-inch capacitive display, 720p HD video via HDMI, WiFi, Bluetooth, and an accelerometer. Interestingly, this gaming handheld is powered by Android. Expected for a release this month, Hardkernel will ship the device with the latest Android 2.1 build.

Netflix streaming coming to PS3

Last week, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings mentioned that an already popular device will be getting Netflix streaming soon. Today, we know that device is the PS3. The service will debut on the PS3 sometime next month and will be free of charge. Unlike the Xbox 360 though, the application must be installed with a disc, which you’ll need to reserve. We really like what Netflix is doing here, but we would really like to see Instant Streaming for the latest DVD releases.

Black Wii Remote and Nunchuk land on November 16th

Available just in time for the holidays, Nintendo teases with black peripherals for the Wii, with a black Wii nowhere in sight. On November 16th, Nintendo will release a black Wii Remote that comes bundled with a MotionPlus add-on. The price for the Wii Remote will be $50. A black Nunchuck will also be released for a price of $20.

Nintendo Wii price dropped to $199

It was shown in this Toys R Us ad and also in this Best Buy ad, however there is solid proof that the Nintendo Wii price will be $199 starting Sunday September 27th. Since it’s launch, the Nintendo Wii has been selling for $249 and is the best selling console when compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. According to the memo, Nintendo will be making the price drop announcement this Friday.

Earlier this week, we saw the price drop in a Toys R Us ad, now the new price is being shown again by Best Buy. Real or fake? You’ll have to decide on that until a confirmation is made about the new $199 price of the Nintendo Wii.

Wii getting a $50 price cut?

With recent price cuts from both Sony and Microsoft, is Nintendo feeling the pressure for a price cut of it’s own? At least this ad seems to say so. In this Toys R Us ad, the Nintendo Wii seems to be sporting a new price tag of $199.99. With sales of the console dropping significantly and holiday season right around the corner, this seems like the perfect move for Nintendo to keep sales of the Wii at a very high number. However, the price above has not been confirmed, so this falls under rumor for now.

Zune HD to include 3D gaming capabilities

With most products, promo videos begin to come out near launch dates. This video comes from Buy TV, which features the Zune HD. The interesting part of the video is around the 30 second mark, showing 3D gaming on the Zune HD. Microsoft is still being quiet about apps and games on the Zune HD, however, they have asked Buy TV to take down the promo video. The Zune HD is set to launch on September 15th.

Sony officially announces PS3 Slim, price cuts

It’s been rumored for quite a while now and Sony has finally come out with the details. At Gamescom in Germany, Sony announced the 120GB PS3 Slim will hit stores in September for a price of $299. The new PS3 Slim will be 36% lighter, 32% smaller, and use 34% less power than the standard Playstation 3. As for the price cuts, starting tomorrow, the 80GB PS3 model will be $299 and the 160GB model will fall to $399. Jump after the break to see Jack Tretton show off the new system.

Canal+ comes to French Xbox 360s

With the Xbox 360, Microsoft wants to dominate your home entertainment and be the center of your living room. Aside from their library of movies and T.V. shows, they added support for Netflix in the U.S. and Sky TV in the UK. Expanding their media reach, they have now added Canal+ in France. With this deal, Canal+ will bring live & on-demand services to the Xbox 360. Also, they will add 3,000 movies and TV shows and French Ligue 1 soccer games. So if you live in France, you now have a very good reason to pick up an Xbox 360.
