Warn your family: Kung-Fu Superstar is motion-controlled martial arts

Warn your family: Kung-Fu Superstar is motion-controlled martial arts

Image

Kung-Fu Superstar is a new Kinect game from Kinesthetic Games, a developer formed from former staff at “Codemasters, EA, Climax, Lionhead Studios and others.” It’s also a really good excuse to clean up your living room and perhaps send your kids to their friends’ houses, lest they all be kicked.

Kung-Fu Superstar purports to teach you real martial arts techniques, which you use to play out the story of kung fu enthusiast Danny Cheng, who hopes to “discover the secrets of Kung Fu and become the most popular martial arts stuntman Hollywood has ever known.”

The game is clearly made for Kinect, but studio head Kostas Zarifis tells Joystiq, “We’re developing the game for multiple platforms (Kinect definitely being one of them). The game will have a very important controller component too!” Wii and PS3 are both listed among the tags for the YouTube clip embedded above.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, Far Cry 2, American Nightmare hit GOG

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, Far Cry 2, American Nightmare hit GOG

“Old” may no longer be a requirement for admission to the Good Old Games vault, but we’re glad to see that “good” still makes the cut. The Longest Journey‘s sequel, Dreamfall, open world shooter Far Cry 2, and Remedy’s Alan Wake’s American Nightmare have arrived on the service, and are now available at $ 15 or less.

Other recent updates include a few other, properly old games like Torin’s Passage, the Quest for Glory series, and Silver.

Rumor: PlayStation All-Stars coming to PS Vita, SCEA resume says

Rumor: PlayStation All-Stars coming to PS Vita, SCEA resume says

We’ll be seeing more characters added to the PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale roster soon enough, and perhaps even see it heading to one additional platform. The LinkedIn profile of Robert Krekel – a sound designer at Sony Computer Entertainment America – suggests PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale may be coming to PlayStation Vita as well.

Krekel lists PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale as his current project, on both PlayStation 3 and Vita. We’ve inquired with Sony and will update if we hear more — but as you might expect, this falls firmly in the “rumors and speculation” category.

Porsche joins Forza 4 lineup today

Porsche was not included in the launch of Forza 4 due to complications with EA, who had the license at the time. But Porsche makes its return to the Forza franchise today (as promised) with the Porsche Expansion Pack DLC.

Sega publishing Ron Gilbert’s Double Fine game

Sega publishing Ron Gilbert’s Double Fine game

Image

It’s been almost two weeks since Double Fine and Ron Gilbert gave us our first glimpse of their new game (different from Double Fine Adventure, the Kickstarter project), and today Sega all but outed itself as the publisher.

After tweeting a link to the image above, the official Sega account has been silent on the matte. It’s easy to see the images Gilbert’s been teasing match up with the shaded area above. All that remains is the official announcement.

SOE announces free-to-play Bullet Run, a revamped Hedone from Acony Games

SOE announces free-to-play Bullet Run, a revamped Hedone from Acony Games

Acony Games, a German developer, has been working on an online first-person shooter called Hedone, about contestants fighting to win a deadly reality show. Sony Online Entertainment today announced that it is publishing a game by Acony called Bullet Run, and as far as we can tell it’s Hedone with a new title.

There’s no mention of Hedone on the official website or in the press release, but the free-to-play shooter now called Bullet Run boasts the same reality show premise as Acony’s project, and it certainly looks the same as the old game (not to mention that hedone.tv now redirects to Sony’s official Bullet Run site).

Some of Acony’s developers previously worked on MMO flops APB and BattleForge, so the track record here isn’t the greatest. But SOE apparently sees something in the title and is already trying to work some rebranding magic. Beta signups for Bullet Run are going on now, and the game is set to go live later this summer.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz hitz Vita on October 23

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz hitz Vita on October 23

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz is stopping, dropping and rolling onto Vita on October 23 in North America and Europe. This is a tad later than the initial “early 2012″ launch window we received in September, but with a title as adorable as this one our anger seems to just melt away.

Banana Splitz will feature more than 100 levels, eight minigames and a custom level builder that turns photos of real images into Monkey Ball-able objects.
