Determined to be the first, Buffalo will release their USB 3.0 HD-HU3 hard drive later this month. You might be wondering why it matters since your PC doesn’t support USB 3.0. However, Buffalo is doing the right thing by also shipping NEC’s IFC-PCIE2U3 2-port PCI Expressx1 host controller so you can actually use the drive. The drive and controller will be available in Japan sometime late October. As for pricing, the 1TB will cost ¥20,000 ($225) and 1.5TB drives will be ¥25,300 ($284). The 2TB disk, which will come later will be priced ¥46,600 ($523). The controller will run for ¥5,300 ($60).
